Growing up in the Texas, we were raised to respect our elders. You honor them for their lives, their time spent in defending this country. You were told to listen them.
At a dinner party last night, a new friend told us that the days of sitting down and communicating with your kids was over. This will be one of our society's greatest miss-takes unless we unplug and start talking within our families.
To the elderly and infirmed, we should not treat you like children, tell you what to eat and strip of your respect. Right now, you probably want to feel valued, not debased.
Dignity can come in many forms, but let us strive to renew your dignity by soliciting the many stories and life lessons that you have personally experienced. Let's make every visit a history class filled with topics that will make our brains soar with laughter, energy and pureness.
